During the American Revolution of the 1700's, British Colonists became tired of British rule and decided to take a stand for their independence. They wanted to form their own country so they could worship as they chose and have more of a say in what goes on in their government. It was a hard fought battle, but the Colonists were victorious and a new nation was born.

Ever since that time people from various countries have come to America to seek their own piece of the American dream. They came from countries such as Germany, Ireland, Poland and others and each one had their own goals. Whether it was to worship freely, to earn more money or escape an abusive government, they all came to a single place to reach these goals.

Nowhere is this diversity more evident and accepted then in the City of Miami. Everywhere you go, you can see the influence of various cultures. It truly is the proverbial melting pot America represents. No wonder it is home to one of the best Fourth of July celebrations there is: The City of Miami Beach Fourth of July Celebration.

The Miami holiday is unique in that it begins with new American citizens getting sworn in by the Department of Homeland Security, keeping with the spirit of the holiday and giving these new citizens a welcome they will not soon forget. There is, of course, much more to the celebration then this. Once the swearing in ceremony is over, a band kicks in. One past act was Carlos Oliva y Los Sobrinos del Juez. Of course, what Fourth of July celebration would be complete without a fireworks display? The City of Miami Beach Fourth of July Celebration features a beautiful display sure to captivate any children in attendance.

Held in South Beach, the celebration is free to the public and lasts 3 hours, making it a perfect way to spend the evening. If you are planning to attend the next Miami event, there are some things you might want to keep in mind. First off, the celebration is popular and it is best to get there early if you want to secure the perfect spot. Also, make sure you bring beach chairs or towels with you, so you will have something to sit on while watching the show. Finally, coolers and water bottles are not allowed at the celebration, so make sure you leave those at home and have some money on hand to purchase refreshments. Still have questions? No free event would be possible if it were not for sponsors footing the bill. Some of the past sponsors include: Miami Herald/El Nuevo Herald, Coca-Cola, and the Miami Beach Visitors and Convention Authority.

When spending a summer in Miami, make sure you include this great celebration on your list of things to do in Miami. It will be a memorable and moving experience for all who attend and is a family-friendly activity that gives the perfect opportunity to teach children about the history of our Country.

4th of July is always a great opportunity to spend quality time with your love ones, and when in Miami there is nothing better to charter a boat to spend the day in our crystalline waters. Additionally, planning ahead is always recommended, so be sure to make your Miami hotel reservations or book your Miami Beach vacation rental on time.
