Downtown Miami Apartments - Downtown Miami

Over the past year, the demand for downtown Miami real estate has increased tremendously. As downtown Miami apartments fill up with new tenants, we are beginning to see retailers and Miami restaurants appear in once vacant Miami commercial properties. Downtown Miami, once referred to as a “ghost town” is beginning to come to life.

Public relations specialist Tadd Schwartz, who promotes downtown Miami, says that the Miami Heat adding LeBron James and Chris Bosh to its lineup “puts us back in the ballgame in a big way.”  In addition to the new star players, downtown boasts the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts and the new Miami Art Museum and Miami Science Museum, set to open in 2013 and 2014.

Over 22,000 downtown Miami apartments have been built since 2003 which forced developers to cut prices and have now given buyers and renters a chance at a lifestyle they once could not afford. Hip new Miami hotels, nightclubs and eateries followed these new residents and the area is predicted to have about 6,000 hotel rooms by the end of the year.

Former Miami Beach mayor Neisen Kasdin, now an attorney who serves as vice chairman of the Miami Downtown Development Authority, states that ”Downtown is now a happening place.'' “It has a very cosmopolitan flare which creates an organic attraction that money can't buy.''

The Miami Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has a $465,000 budget, funded by a tax levy on properties in the area, for marketing downtown Miami as a live-work-play destination on TV, online, in social media and in print.

These plans include pitching the destination through the tourism bureau and Beacon Council in the United States and abroad for business and leisure travelers and for group meetings. However, without a major convention center this may be a hard sell. The strategy includes ads in The New York Times and CNN Latin America.

Using broadcasters and lifestyle and travel writers the DDA is pitching downtown Miami as a “South Beach alternative”.
