The gadget of the week is more of a service than a gadget. Stay in touch while you are in the air with data plan usage on your cell phone.
Some airlines are meeting travelers halfway on the issue of cell phones on planes. You still may not make phone calls with your cell phones on planes, but you can send text messages and communicate through data-only usage.
Right now, this gadget of the week option is limited to traveler’s flying on British Airways Business class-only flights from the smaller London City Airport to New York’s JFK airport.
Rates and carriers for this gadget of the week plan are not yet known but they are sure to be pricey. Airlines like Emirates and BMI have gotten in the action with similar cell phones on planes deals.
