Miami hotel rates and occupancy - Miami lodging

 

According to Smith Travel Research, Miami hotel rates and occupancy in South Florida rose again last week due to the tourist season hitting its peak.

Occupancy in Broward County was up 8.2%, for the week ended March 27, year-over-year. Palm Beach County Occupancy in was up 7.5%, while Miami lodging rates occupancy up 7.2%.

Occupancy rose 5.9%, year-over-year, nationwide.

However, average daily Miami hotel rates were mixed. The average rate for Miami lodging rose from $184.17 to $193.59, 5.1% which was the largest percentage increase in the country. The average rose 2.5 percent in Broward, to $128.14 from $125.05. In Palm Beach County the average rate fell 4.8%, to $167.18 from $175.57.


The average daily rate across the U.S. fell from $99.92 to $98.29, a 1.6 % difference.

 

PKF Hospitality, based in Atlanta, issued hotel predictions on Wednesday for major U.S. cities.  The company predicted that Miami lodging would experience a 2.2% gain in occupancy and a 1% gain in average daily Miami hotel rates in 2010 in comparison to 2009. PKF reported, West Palm Beach occupancy is expected to stay the same but it would see a 3% increase in rates. Fort Lauderdale is predicted to have a 0.7% loss in occupancy and a 1.4 percent fall in rates.
