Miami Hotels - Miami Tourism

 

According to data from Smith Travel Research, South Florida and Miami hotel occupancy rose again in July. The biggest gain in occupancy was in Palm Beach County which rose from 53.2 to 62.1 percent in the prior-year period. Occupancy in Broward went from 59.9 percent to 63.7 percent and Miami hotels grew to 67.9 percent from 64.1 percent.


Across the U.S., occupancy rose from 63.5 percent to 67.9 percent.


The average daily room for Miami hotels rose 1.8 percent, to $118.33 from $116.25. In Broward the ADR fell 0.2 percent, to $89.23 from $89.39. Palm Beach County saw a 1.5 percent decrease for average rate, falling from $97.85 to $96.38.


Nationally, the average daily room rate rose 1.3 percent, to $99.14 from $97.83.


When BP put a temporary cap on its leaking oil well in the Gulf of Mexico, Miami hotel operators were able to breathe a sigh of relief in July. National incident commander, Admiral Thad Allen, is in charge of the response to the spill and said that the tri-county area was expected escape the spill.

Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties all had occupancy increase, during the first six months of this year.  Miami hotel rates rose as well.
