Each year Miami Beach hosts the Brazilian Film Festival. This year, it will be taking place for nine days starting June 1st. For the eleventh year in a row, the Inffinito Foundation brings Brazilian and American actors, directors, and producers for the screening of thirty acclaimed Brazilian films. The Inffinito Foundation has been bringing Brazilian Films to the city of Miami Beach since 1997 under the charge of Adriana Dutra, Cláudia Dutra and Viviane Spenelli.

The film screenings will run from 7 to 9 every evening at the Colony Theatre with special late night screenings on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $10 per screening or $120 for a VIP pass which includes all screenings, private parties and awards ceremony.

The premiere of the Brazilian Film Festival will take place at North Beach Band Shell June 1st beginning at 6:00 pm with Brazilian Samba School and music by DJ Marcelo. At sundown, the outdoor screenings will begin debuting “Carla Camurati’s Irma Vap” (The Return) and “What’s Up Tocayo,” a documentary short.

From June 2nd to the 8th, thirty featured films and short films will be showing; some of which include “Noel-The Samba Poet” (2006), “Carlota” (2006), “Dirty Money” (2006), and “Unforgettable” (2006).

On June 9th, the last day of the festival, the award ceremony will honor the featured and short films. The year’s best in eleven categories will be awarded as chosen by a jury and the year’s Audience Award for Best Featured Film will be presented for best featured film and best short film as chosen by the public.

In 2006, the film festival attracted over 15,000 viewers from all around. This year the film festival is expecting a higher number with the goal of spreading the profile of Brazilian films in foreign markets.
