The 6th Annual Miami International Wine Fair will be held at the Miami Beach Convention Center from September 8th through the 10th. The fair, which saw a 20% increase in its attendance last year, is expecting an even better year in 2007. Over 5,000 visitors came last year to try wines from a wide variety of exhibitors, a number that is also expected to grow. It doubled its participation last year in its first year at the Convention Center. It used to be held in Downtown Miami. The Wine community and wine lovers have responded well to the change and as a result, the space for this year is going to be even better. They are expanding the space to 50,000 feet so they can accommodate the demand.

The Miami International Wine Fair features many different events for its visitors and vendors. There are guided tasting business meetings so the wine community can keep up to the latest trends and share their experiences. There will be a VIP section devoted to their Collector's Club. Some of the best restaurants in the region participated last year in the event.

The winners of the contest walked away with over $5,000 worth prizes and they were acknowledged by the city's top critics. This year, chefs are going to be at the convention to prepare appetizers to go with the varied wines that will be served to participants. Any restaurant that wants to participate will be able to sign up through the fair's website.

This year's festival will not only provide fans of good wine the chance to taste the best wine available, it will also do some good for charity. The American Red Cross will be one of the beneficiaries. Greater Miami and the Keys will also get a chance to benefit from the funds raised. Each will share in 33% of the profits from the Grand Tasting ticket sales. The event will be sponsored by The City of Miami Beach, Publix, Starbucks, Comcast, GWines wine distributor and JetBlue airways, among others. It will also get some help from partners such as Wine Magazine, WLRN and the Miami Herald.

There will be a lot to do at the festival. There are, of course the wine tastings that people love. In addition to this, there will be several seminars on topics such as The Wines of Burgandy, the Winners of the 2006 Florida International Wine Challenge; Introduction to wine appreciation. There will also be after tasting dinners and cocktail parties. There are also two grand tasting, one will be for the public and VIPs and a second for the media and people in the wine industry.
