The Matheson Hammock Park is located in the heart of Coral Gables, a few hundred feet away from the famous Fairchild Tropical Garden on Old Cutler Road. It could be a good complement to organize a visit to the Fairchild Tropical Garden, so you can visit the garden during the morning and then this magical park in the afternoon, combining two different tours in Miami.

By car just take I-95 south, enter US1, go south on US 1 to SW 42nd Ave. (LeJeune Rd.). Turn left on SW 42nd Ave. and drive south to roundabout. Enter roundabout and take 2nd right onto Old Cutler Rd. Drive on Old Cutler Road, the your Matheson Hammock Park will be on your left

When penetrating in the park, visitors will drive through the Florida mangrove. Also, they will pass the Marina and then reach at the end a magic area. The Matheson Hammock Park offers a wonderful scenic park that offers 360 degrees views of Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne, and the keys if the visibility is good.

In addition the magic view, there is a superb atoll pool, where kids and adults can enjoy together. Sun lovers will lay down on its white sandy beaches shaded by a colony of gorgeous palm trees. This family Miami attraction was surprisingly empty on a Saturday afternoon. Furthermore, the park offers multiple possibilities beyond sunbathing or swimming, visitors can fish, jog, bike, and there is also a kid's park at the entrance of Matheson.

Also a full serviced marina, the Matheson Hammock Park provides sailing classes. The Matheson Park offers some food in an adorable setting at the Red Fish restaurant. The restaurant operated by a French owner opens only at night from 6 p.m. on and offers some fish based cuisine. This restaurant is located within an incredibly charming historic coral rock building. During the day, the park serves juicy hamburgers and hot dogs. Visitors wishing to bring their own food will have an unforgettable picnic on the tables set up to that effect. Boaters can also use the marina's dock to come and visit, it is advised to call the marina before to reserve whether you wish to stay a few hours or a few days. If you rent a boat in Miami, we suggest you go to this destination as part as your trip to Key Biscayne or Coconut Grove. If you do not charter a Miami boat with a captain, prepare your trip with care using Miami Marine Maps or with a GPS, waters can be tricky. Come today and enjoy a wonderful Miami excursion.
