Florida is about to make some history with one of the first Miami events scheduled for 2008: The World Orchid Conference/Show. For the first time in 25 years, the highly anticipated and popular show will be coming to the United States. The Miami event will run from January 23rd until the 27th and what a big event it is! Over 200,000 people are expected to attend the event, held once every three years. The show is a place for guests to learn all about Orchids through lectures as well as seeing and buying some of the best specimens of the flower. The events and topics are so varied; it is a great place for not only experts, but novices as well. The Florida festival will be open from 10AM to 6PM each day. The exception is Friday, when they will be open until 10 PM. Over 18 countries will be on hand to celebrate the year’s theme “Orchids- Nature’s Masterpiece”. If you would like to attend this wonderful Miami event, the cost will be $300.00 for full registration, $50 for one-day registration and $20 for one-day general admission. The show will be held at the Sheraton Mart Hotel’s Exhibition Center. For more information about the show or entering the show, please visit the American Orchid Society at www.aos.org/aos/.
