Miami Book Fair International - Events in Miami
Every year in November, Downtown Miami becomes the star of the literary world as the Miami Book Fair International takes over the streets of over eight days. Thousands of book-lovers attend readings and discussions at the Miami Book Fair International. It is the nation’s most highly-recognized literary event. Throughout the years, the Miami Book Fair International celebrates literary culture with the Festival of Authors, the International Pavilions Village and the Street Fair. The International Pavilions Village is where you will find literature, fine arts and folkloric traditions of different countries. There is a Children’s Alley and the Antiquarian Annex which is where you can find rare books, signed first editions, original manuscripts and other collectibles. This year, the 26th annual events in Miami will take place from November 8th to the 15th.
The festival events in Miami expect to welcome over 300 authors from around the world. Thanks to the loss of corporate sponsorships due to the current economic woes, the Miami Book Fair International has raised its prices from $5 to $8. People ages 62 and up will still be charged $5 and kids under 18 will still get in free. The “Evenings With…” lectures on Sunday through Friday will require a $10 admission fee. The street fair section of the event is where booksellers and publishers exhibit and sell books among continuous festivities and events in Miami.
