South Florida is home to many things to satisfy those with a taste for the finer things in life. There is an antique jewelry show, fine South Beach hotels, top-notch South Beach restaurants and more. For those visitors, there is something else to look forward to each year: The South Beach Food and Wine Festival.

Each year, this event brings some of the best in food and drink to the Sunshine State for residents and visitors alike. There is one thing that will be different for those who have attended before: a new name. The Florida festival has partnered with Food Network, forming the Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival. Food Network is a cable channel that brings viewers all over the country quality cooking shows and other programming related to food. It is also seen in several other countries, including Australia, France and Monaco.

The festival is one of the more popular Miami attractions, bringing visitors from all over the country to sample some great fare. It is no wonder then, when they were looking for a way to get their stars and programming out there, they chose the festival to do it. Food Network stars are expected to now be a part of the event, offering their own expertise and making the festival even more entertaining and educational than before. The Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival is hosted by the Southern Wine & Spirits of Florida and Florida International University.

There is usually much to do and see at the Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival. Each year, there are seminars devoted to teaching the expert and beginner alike all about the latest brands. These seminars are usually hosted by some of the leading wine makers and industry experts, so you can be assured you will see and learn about only the best food and drink available.

Another big draw to the event is the ability to taste a large variety of quality wine at the Grand Tasting Village. Kids are not left out, either. Future chefs usually have events aimed at them as well, helping to nurture the next Emeril Lagasse or Rachael Ray.

Older students are given the opportunity to hone their skills as well by volunteering to assist in the planning and execution of the four-day event. They are able to work hands-on with the best in the business so they will be ready come graduation day to take their place in the Industry. Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival is not just a fun event for visitors. It also benefits host FIU, with the proceeds going to various food and hospitality programs offered.
