Mount Sinai Hospital was established in 1949 by a group of philanthropists and concerned citizens with two goals in mind: to make healthcare services accessible to all people, in spite of race, color or creed, or their economic resources, and to create a hospital where physicians would be allowed to practice medicine without fear of prejudices.
Nowadays, Mt. Sinai Hospital has 955 beds located on two campuses and a satellite diagnostic facility in the City of Aventura. More than 700 physicians, 3,000 employees and 500 volunteers, make of this Miami hospital the largest private, non-profit teaching hospital in South Florida. Mt. Sinai Hospital offers vital services from obstetrics to emergency care to those in need through a multitude of outreach and support programs. Mount Sinai Hospital provides a wide range of services and clinical programs such as:
- Most active cardiac program in South Florida.
- Cardiac research units.
- Largest memory disorder center in Florida.
- State-of-the-art cancer center (The Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center)
- Only NCI-sponsored Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP) for adults in Florida.
