Salsa Music and dancing are a hot topic in Latin culture. The music is one of the biggest sellers and Salsa dancing is seen as one of the hottest forms of dance there is. Well, now the City of Miami is bringing this sensation to the many residents and tourists in South Florida.

Going on 6 years now, the Miami Salsa Congress is one of the best things to do in Miami if you love dancing. This Miami event was created to bring people from all over the world together to experience Salsa in one place. There are showcases, live music, hot DJs and more at the Congress to enjoy.

The event kicks off with a dance party! Once the party has died down, it is time to get to work! There are a variety of workshops at the Miami Salsa Congress to enjoy and learn from. From beginner to advanced, there is a class for every talent level taught by some of the best in the business. Instructors include Edie Lewis, Julian Mejia, Eric Baez and Neri Torres, among others. One of these is the Salsa Bootcamp, led by Edie Lewis. This 4 hour class will teach you everything you need to know to become a great Salsa dancer. After it is over, you will get the chance to relax and enjoy some great refreshments in the main Ballroom.

In addition to classes in various salsa styles, you can catch some hot performances as well. Performers from all over the world will be there. Some of the countries represented are: Italy, the US, Puerto Rico, and Germany. States such as Illinois, South Florida and Georgia will be represented there, as well, proving the universal appeal of Salsa. You can also see great Salsa bands such as Sonara Carruseles and Frank Castillo y Su Potencia Latina perform.


If that is not enough, there are a few other parties going on during the event to kick back and have fun as well as the World Salsa Championship! You can also enjoy some Poolside dancing. An awards show will be held during the event as well to honor late singer Frankie Ruiz as well as others who have contributed to the world of Salsa. Some of the instructors and DJs in attendance will be among these honorees, so you know you’re in for quality teaching and entertainment. Ruiz’s son, also a singer, will be there to accept the award and sign autographs for fans.

Miami Salsa Congress is sponsored by the City of Miami Beach, McDonalds, the Miami Dolphins and others. They are also partnered with Salsa organizations throughout the world.
