There is a brand new event coming to South Florida in 2008. The Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival has now launched a duel event: The Fort Lauderdale Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. The two events will be presented in conjunction with each other and all entries will be considered for both Miami events.

The event got an early start on November 12, 2007 with a Special Meet and Greet party held at Georgie’s Alibi. The party was a chance for people to mingle and discuss the upcoming debut of the Ft. Lauderdale version of the Festival. The Ft. Lauderdale version officially opens on May 1, 2008 and will run through the 4th of the month.

The Florida festival will follow its predecessor’s lead in providing quality entertainment that will educate the public about the Gay community as well as promoting tolerance and understanding. It will also allow people of all orientations and genders the chance to come together and party. And let’s face it: it is not a Miami event unless there is a large party or two during it.
