South Florida has a rich and varied history and there are many Miami events throughout the year that reflect this. There are events to celebrate the various cultures here as well as the cultural side of the city. One of the events coming in 2008 celebrates Coral Gables and the man who founded it. Every year, this Florida festival honors George Merrick and the town’s sister cities.
The Merrick Festival is a diverse Miami event that introduces residents and visitors alike to the culture of sister cities Pisa, Italy and Aix-en-Provence, France. They will even participate in the event. Guests can look forward to great films from each place as well as food, music and art exhibits, among other things. Each year, the event also plays hosts to a variety of performers. It is a great opportunity for kids to learn while having a great time. They will be exposed to other cultures and even learn a bit about their home and its history.
The Merrick Festival is scheduled for April of 2008, but as of now it is not known what days the Festival will take place, or what time it opens.
