If you love flowers, there is a 2008 Miami event you will not want to miss: The Redland International Orchid Festival. The Florida festival will be held at the Fruit and Spice Park, located at 24801 SW 187 the Avenue in Homestead, from May 16-18th. The event will be a large gathering featuring plenty to keep everyone entertained.

Over 60 venders from various countries will be on hand to show off their products. Some of the countries signed up for 2008 include the Phillipines, Venezuela and Jamaica, among others. The Florida festival features a competition that will be judged on the 15th of May as well as other events. There will be lectures and demonstrations to teach visitors about the different types of orchids and how to care for them. There will also be crafts, walking tours of the park led by employees, and a Park store where you will be able to buy anything you need to care for your orchids as well as food and drink.

There are plenty of perks as well. They offer storage for those who do not want to cart around a purchase all day. There is also free parking, ATM machines and shaded rest areas. If that wasn’t enough, there will also be officials from the US Department of Agriculture available at the Festival to issue any papers needed to take the plants out of the country should you wish to do so.
