Electric Miami car rentals cars will be available from two of the nation’s largest auto rental companies as early as January. Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Hertz will both be offering the all-electric Nissan Leaf which has a range of 100 miles from a fully charged battery. Miami car rental agencies, Hertz and Enterprise, already offer the Toyota Prius and some questions have yet to be answered about renting electric cars.

One example, representatives say that they anticipated the rental price for a Leaf will be higher than that of a traditional car but representatives for each company say they have yet to announce exact rates.

An even bigger concern is whether the Miami car rental agencies will charge renters a penalty for returning the electric vehicles without recharging them. A Nissan Leaf will take approximately 20 hours to fully recharge which means that visitors will need to get electricity from either their Miami Hotels or Miami Beach Vacation rentals.
