Calle Ocho is the biggest of all Miami events. It is also the most popular among the Latin community. Every year, superstars of the Latin world comes together to perform for adoring crowds to much fanfare. It is hard to turn on the TV when this event comes to town and not see coverage of it on the news broadcasts. Spanish networks and other local media often go live, televising parts of the Florida festival and speaking with the attendees.

This most famous of Miami events did not get it is reputation by chance. Every year, over one million people come from all over to experience Calle Ocho for themselves, making it the largest street party ever. The Florida festival is even in the record books, after hosting the largest Conga line in the world back in 1998. Then, over 100,000 joined in the famous dance. While Calle Ocho is a good place to learn about the Hispanic culture, for the huge Hispanic population, it is a chance to express their cultural identity.




There are a few things you will want to keep in mind when visiting Calle Ocho. Given the size of the event, you will definitely want to arrive early to avoid heavy traffic. Before you head out, make sure you are wearing light, comfortable clothes and shoes and keep an eye on your group. It is easy to get separated here and have a hard time meeting up again. You will also want to bring along a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the harsh rays of the sun. If you are claustrophobic, you may want to explore other options.
