Over the past month, the producers of MTV’s popular reality TV show Jersey Shore have been dealing with a dilemma: “Should they shoot next season’s MTV reality show in Miami?”
The rumor is MTV will be filming its popular and controversial MTV reality show in Miami for its second season, but where will they house it’s soon to be
Miami celebrities?
That's the question facing
Miami hotels,
South Beach night clubs and companies that own Miami Beach vacation rental homes as MTV contemplate filming its hottest and most frowned-upon reality TV show in Miami this spring.
As MTV prepares for next season, during the last several weeks, location scouts for The Jersey Shore explored potential
Miami vacation villas for Snooki, Pauly D and the other cast members as MTV prepares to move the hit series south.
But even in a down economy, the potential arrival of the pop-culture Miami celebrities has presented Miami clubs and
Miami Beach restaurants with a situation. Even though audiences love the show's dramatic escapades, including Snooki, the top female star, getting hit by a man at a Jersey bar, some establishments would rather avoid the attention from these newest Miami celebrities.
Owner of South Beach's Mynt Lounge, Romain Zago says they rejected an inquiry from a Jersey Shore location scout, because of the show's treatment of women and Italian Americans.
'Zago wrote in a statement on Wednesday, ”Miami Beach takes pride in the years it took to establish an upscale tourist attraction, and bringing this show to town would lessen that image, any club or establishment that participates can and should be held liable for such mischievous behavior.''
Still, in a city that has embraced reality television and numerous controversial
Miami events, where the Kardashians sell dresses blocks from the old Miami Ink tattoo parlor, The Jersey Shore has found its
South Beach vacation rental homes.
Snooki, the Situation, and all the rest will be heading to Miami Beach in May and they’ll stay in a house off Lincoln Road in South Beach that MTV is currently renting and renovating for the occasion.
