NBA Miami - Miami Downtown Hotels

Traveling NBA Miami teams bring big business for Miami hotels, with some teams bringing in around $15,000 per night depending on the hotel. A number of the area's newest hotels in Miami have made upgrades or built with these guests in mind.

Some downtown Miami hotels even consulted with the Miami Heat in order to better accommodated and make their rooms as attractive as possible for them.

Miami's riverfront Epic Hotel & Residences across from the Marriott at 270 Biscayne Boulevard Way has a dozen rooms that cater to the very tall. The Epic Hotel was built with high ceilings, 96-inch beds, raised vanities and elevated rain-style shower heads.  Sales and marketing director Eric Jellson said players want food to be available around the clock, so staff coordinates with teams to make sure they can fulfill any special late-night room service requests.

NBA teams also have spent time at the InterContinental Miami, Ritz-Carlton on Key Biscayne and Four Seasons Miami on Brickell Avenue over the past several years.

Tony Rodriguez, marketing director for the Four Seasons said Heat competitors from the Atlanta Hawks to the Washington Wizards have stayed at his property. He also said that teams can be superstitious, and are loyal to a hotel if they've had one a game during that stay and switching if the hotel coincides with losses. Rodriguez also stated that the market has become a bit more crowded with more places to stay in Miami Florida particularly Miami downtown hotels.

JW Marriott Marquis this season will be spending money on basketball extras in hopes to win team business during the playoffs and next season. A shot clock in the basketball court and NBA-approved lines on the floor will be installed soon.  The JW Marriott Marquis also has a media screening room which can be used for viewing tape of games and a spectacular gym with weights made for giant biceps.
