Cell phones while driving, Miami city guide

Most places in the world ban the use of cell phones while driving unless drivers use   headsets. According to the Miami city guide, recent studies show that there were around 2,000 automobile accidents in Florida that were said to be caused by distracted drivers. About 20% of those distracted drivers were using cell phones while driving.

The state of Florida attempted to ban the use of cell phones while driving in Miami but was unsuccessful. In 2001, Miami Dade became the first county in Florida to restrict the use of cell phones while driving. Drivers may only talk on cell phones while driving if they use headphones. You may notice that even some local Miamian's are not very disciplined when it comes to this law and talk overtly on cell phones while driving.  Violators of this law risk a fine of $250. For additional driving regulations, read the Miami city guide.
