As
vacation rental fraud is so common, you must be very cautious in your search. Protect yourself by following easy tips and recognizing familiar signs.
- Call the person who is renting the property and ask many questions to see how familiar he/she is with the property. If the property is real, they are expected to know enough about it to answer questions quickly and with detail.
- Look up the address of the property in Google maps and see if you can get a street view image to make sure it matches the photos of the exterior.
- Be wary of deals that are too good to be true (i.e. super luxurious properties that are renting at extremely low prices)
- Research the name of the company or person who is renting the property
