Miami tourism hotels- Miami hotels occupancy rates

 

According to Smith Travel Research, Miami hotels occupancy rates rose again last week at, despite growing concern that Miami tourism would be impacted about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Occupancy in Palm Beach County rose 13.7 percent, year-over-year, for the week ended May 7. In Broward County occupancy rose 7.8 percent. Miami hotels occupancy rates rose 5.2 percent and occupancy rose 6.4 percent across the U.S.

Average daily rates for Miami tourism hotels and rates for other cities were mixed.

Average daily rates for Miami tourism hotels rates rose 0.9 percent, $140.32 to $141.56. Broward’s average daily rates fell 1.3 percent, to $115.40 from $116.92. In Palm Beach the average rate fell 2.3 percent, to $112.95 from $115.59.

In the U.S. the average daily rate fell 0.8 percent, to $97.08 from $97.82.

Miami tourism was up in Palm Beach because of SunFest, the annual music and arts festival held in downtown West Palm Beach, was responsible for the County’s rise in occupancy. According to its official web site, the festival attracts more than 280,000 visitors.
